Adobe InDesign

I teach Web Design using Adobe CS5 Suite which includes InDesign software. Our students use this program to prepare the yearbook. I also use this program when teaching Desktop Publishing where we create flyers, brochures, business cards, programs, etc. InDesign is a standard program used in the publishing industry in areas such as digital magazines and print publications. My students have used it to create play programs, flyers and advertisements for various high school productions.

I am a high school business education teacher on the job for 30 years. I've taught a variety of business education classes ranging from General Business, Business Organization and Management, Accounting and Marketing. In addition, I teach various computer classes including MS Office Suite.

career development

I have been a Business Education/Marketing Teacher-Coordinator for thirty years. Part of our curriculum dictates that we teach career development. In addition, I was in charge of the cooperative education program which was a work study program where students go to school for part of the day and then leave and go to work for the other part of the day. This gave students the opportunity to try a job in an area they may want to pursue as a career.

college counseling

I have been a high school teacher for thirty years. During that time, I mostly taught senior students and have helped many of them with college counseling from looking at colleges to applying to colleges. We have done college searches as well as comparison charts. In addition, I've helped them with college essays and with online and paper applications. I've also written many college recommendations for my students. In addition, I have a daughter who graduated college and one in college now. I've assisted all my cousins with their college applications and took them for college visits. I feel very comfortable counseling students about college.

I teach a class called Computer and Game Programming at the high school level. We use Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Studio 10, Alice (beginning Java) and The Games Factory. I feel comfortable tutoring beginning level programming.

I currently teach Web Design using Dreamweaver and the CS5 Suite. Our students use the text, "Adobe Dreamweaver CS5--Comprehensive" by Shelly, Wells and Campbell published by Course Technology, part of the Shelly Cashman series.

For the first 15 years of my career, I was a Marketing Teacher-Coordinator that ran the work-study program at my high school and taught marketing classes. In addition, I advised the DECA Club and operated the school store with my students. I have a double major--Marketing/Distributive Education--bachelor's degree.

I have been a high school teacher for thirty years and have helped many students get organized and learn how to study. We run a freshman orientation program at my school and one of things we focus on is study skills. We help the students learn how to prepare for high school by practicing better study habits. I feel that my background as a public school teacher and my vast experience in the classroom enables me to be able to tutor students in the area of study skills.

Visual Basic

I have been teaching Visual Basic programming since 2002. We initially used Visual Basic 6 but now we are using Visual Studio 2010. In addition, I teach Alice which is an introduction to Java. The skills covered in our programming class include: learning the components of the compiler, creating and saving a project, learning forms, controls and properties, and events and code. In addition order of operations and error handling as well as data types and variables and strings and decimal types are covered. A whole unit on decision making using If Statements and Nested If Statements as well as loops is included too.

For the past several years, I have been teaching web design at our high school. We currently use Dreamweaver and its components, which are part of Adobe CS5. Our students have created websites comprised of 10 or more pages. We have also worked with Wix and Weebly programs.
